How much does the mobile BioMax cost?
$500,000 in 2006. The normally stationary downdraft technology was incorporated into a uniquely designed mobile trailer. A big chunk of that cost went into the trailer design and the arrangement of process equipment upon the trailer bed within space and weight restrictions.
Where can I get one?
The contractor for this technology, Community Power Corporation in Littleton, CO (gocpc.com), has been evolving gasification for over 10 years but have not yet commercialized the process. Until they commence commercial manufacturing, the availability of this equipment is limited and the cost is above the competitive price point.
How much wood does it use?
This system utilizes about 50 pounds of wood chips per hour of operation; just over 1/2 ton per 24 hours.
How much heat and power does it produce?
This system will generate about 22 kiloWatts of 3-phase ac electricity and about 200,000 british thermal units (btu) per hour of heat.
How many homes will that serve?
On an average energy basis, the 24-hour output from this system is enough energy for about 15 Montana homes.
